What good is an education if you can’t safely get to school?

This summer has been nothing but exciting things for Project Left Behind! TODAY we launch our third and final fundraiser for the girls at Tender Loving Care orphanage in Hyderabad, India. These young ladies do not have reliable and safe transportation to get to school or to extracurricular activities.  The orphanage currently shares a van with a nearby convent that can only transfer four girls at a time and breaks down regularly. These girls CANNOT take public transportation or walk to school without a chaperone because they are at incredibly high risk for human trafficking.  So we at PLB found ourselves asking the question, “What good is an education if you can’t arrive at school safely?”  We took action because it’s imperative that these girls go to school.  Education is the key to a successful and happy life after they age out of the orphanage.

These girls are dedicated to their studies and each year more and more go on to higher education. Supporting them as they continue to do things that some may not have thought possible is what Project Left Behind is all about. We want to continue nourishing a future of possibilities where these girls truly believe they can achieve the dreams they set out for themselves.

So what does a reliable van that has enough seats for all the girls cost? $18,000 is the answer. I know a huge goal, right? BUT, we are almost half way there! Thanks to some very generous friends of PLB, we have already raised $8,050, which only leaves about $10,000 more to go. We could not think of any greater way to end the summer and start the school year by providing safe transportation for the strong and deserving girls at the Tender Loving Care orphanage.
