Meet Jordan Ashford: PLB’s New Intern!

Meet Jordan Ashford! She is our first intern here at Project Left Behind (PLB). Jordan is a twenty-one year old college student at the University of San Diego (USD). She is a sociology major with a minor in leadership studies, and is very passionate about non-profit work. Jordan is originally from Portland Oregon and spent all her childhood living in the Pacific North West.  Although she loves being home, the rain made her want to experience living somewhere sunny. And what better place then San Diego where it is like summer all year round?

Jordan recently studied abroad in the captivating city of Rome, Italy. Amid all the excitement and memories, there was one other thing that left a lasting impression. A Human Trafficking class that informed her about people in other countries who still experience different forms of slavery. Jordan was moved by this class and passionate about the work that needed to be done. After reaching out to many non-profits, Jordan was introduced to Project Left Behind and the work they do in other countries to help orphan and neglected children. When given the opportunity to be a part of the PLB team, she accepted immediately. “During the interview, Jordan impressed me with her quick and creative answers to hard questions” says Anna Maria Maybury, the corporate social responsibility manager for PLB’s for-profit partner, NuttZo. “We are extremely excited to welcome Jordan to the Project Left Behind family!”

In Jordan’s free time she enjoys biking, paddle boarding, and soaking up the sun! Her parents are still in the Pacific North West, along with her older brother who also attended USD and who she considers her best friend. Growing up, Jordan was very involved in sports. Her father and brother instilled a competitive instinct in her that she then carried into athletics. She spent eight years as a gymnast and played basketball, soccer, track, and even fencing.  No doubt Jordan has brought that go get ‘em attitude to PLB!
