A Fresh Start to 2025 at Hogar Semillas
Dear Friends,

As we step into 2025, the energy at Hogar Semillas is full of excitement, growth and new beginnings. Thanks to your unwavering support, the children continue to thrive in their education, community and personal development.
New Faces, New Opportunities
We are thrilled to welcome two new children to the home–Arek Fran and Yeffer, both 12 years old. Coming from the remote Chaullacocha community, their families rely on agriculture and fishing for their livelihood.
Now, with a stable and nurturing environment at the home, they have access to education and resources that will help shape their future.
At the same time, we said goodbye to Nelly, who was return to live with their family. While we will miss her, we celebrate this transition as a positive step in keeping her connected with loved ones.

Investing in Education
With the school year beginning in March, the children have been engaged in academic preparation, receiving both morning and afternoon tutoring to ensure they stay strong. We’ve also been able to provide school supplies for those who need them most. While not a formal obligation of the home, we recognize that many families struggle to afford these essentials, and we support them whenever possible.
Reyna, one of our bright young students, has taken an exciting step by enrolling in a local dance academy and even beginning German lessons with a former volunteer. Her ambition and enthusiasm remind us why opportunities like these matter so much.

Strengthening Family & Community Bonds
In February, the home held its annual meeting with parents, ensuring both families and children understand the agreements and commitment involved in being part of the home. These gatherings are essential in fostering open communication and keeping families involved in their children’s progress.
Additionally, staff traveled deep into the Chaullacocha community to visit the homes of new students. It was a long but meaningful journey, reinforcing our mission to support children from remote areas who otherwise wouldn’t have access to secondary education.

Small Changes, Big Impact
We’ve made key updates to our documents and processes, ensuring that everything runs smoothly for the year ahead. Meanwhile, thanks to generous supporters, we were able to purchase two much-needed mattresses for the children, along with essential school supplies. Every small step forward is a testament to the love and generosity of our community–people like you, who believe in creating opportunities for these children.
