Every so often, PLB reaches out to some of their most loyal followers. We love to get to know the individuals who are actively involved in PLB’s mission of supporting orphaned and neglected children around the world. This Supporter Spotlight is dedicated to Hilary and Ryan Craft!
PLB: Hello Craft Family! Where do you call home?
H&R: We live in Encinitas, California.
PLB: How do you spend your time?
H&R: We love sailing our boat “Scooter” on San Diego bay with friends and family.
PLB: Sounds lovely! How long have you been involved with Project Left Behind?
H&R: We can’t remember exactly, probably 2013-2014.
PLB: Why do you support Project Left Behind?
H&R: Because our donations address clear and specific needs of the kids that evolve and shift as their needs do. When we ask what the kids need, PLB knows and has plans. Whether it’s been a laptop for a Chemistry student going to college, a dryer for the orphanage, or just pen pals for the brownie trip, the needs are specific so our donations make timely impact.
PLB: We stay project focused so that’s great you feel the same way! Will you share with us a favorite or funniest travel story?
H&R: Certainly, On our honeymoon in Belize, by chance we sat down at a restaurant next to a Chris and a Michelle who lived just down the street from us in Pacific Beach. That was 14 years ago and we are still friends to this day!
PLB: That is great! One person who inspires you and why?
H&R: We both agree it would be John Muir. He was hard core. And he was able to articulate the beauty of the Sierras, effectively preserving them.
PLB: If you could choose to have dinner with anyone (living or deceased) who would it be and why?
H&R: I (Hillary) would have dinner with Abraham Lincoln becase we share a birthday. And I (Ryan) would share a meal with Yvon Chouinard because he’s a Jedi.
PLB: Ah yes, his book the Responsible Company is on our “to-read” list. Tell us who has inspired you and why.
H&R: Michelle Obama because of her poise, sincerity, action and spunk.
PLB: What is the one thing you would have to take with you on an island to survive?
H&R: Wireless Speakers and a Pandora subscription!
PLB: Lastly, can you share with us something we would never guess about you if we didn’t know you well.
H&R: We have two chickens named Zahara and Corazon.
You two are a hoot! Thank you so much for letting us get to know you better. And THANK YOU for your wonderful support for the work Project Left Behind does.
